The fascination with wheels. Trucks and Cars won’t roll without ‘em

I am obviously not the only one who is fascinated by the seemingly unending number of designs engineers have dreamed up for a labyrinth of styles for the custom wheels for major brands of vehicles such as
Dodge,Ford,GM,Honda,Isuzu,Jeep,Kia,Nissan,Suburu,Suzuki,Toyota,Chrysler.

A set of four wheels with custom rims and tires commonly cost $3,000 or more. Generally when one adds a custom rim, it is larger than the stock rim and therefore requires the purchase of new tires as well.

It is a huge segment of the auto accessories after market business.

Due to the high cost of wheels, a new product has emerged known as the “wheel skin”. A wheel skin is basically a hub cap, but it designed to replicate the look of the factory wheel and as a result it requires special licensing and there are only two companies who provide them in the USA.

A wheel skin looks very similar to a real custom factory wheel but is far less expensive, thus leading to the popularity of the product. The price is in the vicinity of only $35 per wheel – compare that to $300 per wheel and up for a chrome custom wheel.
